Valley Regional Hospital, which opened in 1992, serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties. It provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.

Inpatient mental health services are available for those who cannot be safely assessed, diagnosed and stabilized in the community. 

Adults / Seniors

Patients are typically admitted to the hospital following assessment by psychiatrists or emergency department physicians at a hospital emergency room or a community clinic.

Adolescent Outreach Services

Adolescent Outreach Services (AOS) is an expansion of the CaperBase model, which originated in Cape Breton. AOS focuses on providing:

  • Brief and Early Intervention
  • Screening
  • Outreach
  • Community Partnerships

Children / Youth

Youth can self-refer by drop-in at the allocated schools where the Adolescent Outreach Services is offered. School Administration, teachers, guidance, support staff, caregivers, friends, and healthcare professionals can also refer youth to worker.
