Feeling Stressed, Anxious or Worried

We all feel stressed or anxious at times. Most people feel stressed or anxious if theyre in a dangerous situation, or before certain events such as public speaking, or an interview. It’s totally normal—even helpful—to be anxious in certain situations. Anxiety can motivate you to prepare for a test at school or finish a task at work, for example.

Stress and anxiety are both part of being human, and some anxiety is normal. But both can be problems if they last for a long time or have an impact on our well-being or daily life. If the feelings become overwhelming or unmanageable, or come up unexpectedly, it could be a sign of concern.

See your doctor if you feel like you're worrying too much, if it's interfering with your school, work, or relationships, if you feel depressed or irritable, have trouble with alcohol or drugs, or you have other mental health concerns along with anxiety.
