The Adult Neurodevelopmental Stabilization Unit (ANSU) is an acute care unit that provides services for persons with intellectual disability and acute mental illness that cannot be safely managed in the community. These services include:
- Multidisciplinary assessments and care management, with a view to stabilization and reintegration of clients back into the community
- Working in collaboration with clients’ families, care givers and community health care providers, to facilitate the recovery of individual clients
- A plan for leaving the hospital and follow up after patients leave the hospital
